Answer Trivia Questions

Earlier I asked you if you could name the last ten people to retire or die while possessing the only position in government that gets to say what the law is.  (WHO gets to interpret the constitution?  These folks.)

Most of you know the current bench: Roberts, Stevens, Scalia, Kennedy (or this), Thomas, Ginsburg, Breyer, Alito, and Sotomayor.  And of course, Stevens will retire, and likely Kagen will go at the end of that list.  Before these ten, who were the previous ten?

Souter - Retired 2009 - Replaced by Sotomayor
O'Connor - Retired 2006 - Replaced by Alito
Rehnquist - Died 2005 - Replaced by Roberts
Blackmun - Retired 1994 - Replaced by Breyer
White - Retired 1993 - Replaced by Ginsburg
Marshall - Retired 1991 - Replaced by Thomas
Brennan - Retired 1990 - Replaced by Souter
Powell - Retired 1987 - Replaced by Kennedy
Burger - Retired 1986 - Replaced as Chief by Rehnquist who was replaced by Scalia
Stewart (or this) - Retired 1981 - Replaced by O'Connor

Go figure.  More trivia at some point if we're creative.

OH - I almost forgot.  To the one person who answered -- you get 14 points.  Stevens hasn't retired yet.  At least guess ten answers.  Like the MBE, no points off for wrong guesses.
